Overview

Devices shown on your account in the VostroNet Portal are listed by MAC Address.

What is a MAC address?

Devices on computer networks identify themselves with a unique MAC address - Also known as the Physical Address or Ethernet / Wi-Fi Address.

Similar to a serial number, this address is unique for each device. MAC is an abbreviation of “Media Access Control” - It has nothing to do with Apple.

What does a MAC address look like?

A MAC address is a string of 12 hexadecimal characters (0-9 and A-F).

The characters are often grouped into pairs, separated by colons ( : ) or hyphens ( - ) for easier reading.

For example: 1A2B3C4D5E6F or 1A:2B:3C:4D:5E:6F or 1A-2B-3C-4D-5E-6F are all ways in which a MAC Address may be shown.
